The 2023 Nike Air Max 1 Premium 'Shima Shima' reintroduces a design theme that first seen in the 2003 'Shima Shima' pack. The leather upper is dyed in various hues of grey, with contrasting brown accents on the trademark Swoosh and nubuck mudguard. The internal textile lining is decorated with vertical stripes, and the woven tongue tag and sockliner include Japanese Hiragana characters spelling out 'Shima Shima'. The lightweight cushioning comes from a wedge-shaped foam midsole with a visible Air-sole unit in the heel.
